Ash wednesday

It's supposed to be a religious holiday. Only in christian faiths. And yet so often they copy pagan rituals and meetings. Today the sheep are marked with a black cross over front of their heads to show who the blind and the others who are blind but forgot or don't care. It's not my cup of tea. I'm athiest anyways, but still my grandmother made it a point to awaken me for the ceremony. I did have the key's of the car in the house stowed away in my pants while I slumbered, so it is not even like she could go if I did not awaken. So since I was afoot anyways I figured I would still transport her to her destiny. It is now almost time to retrieve her from her own ways. I will probably go back to sleep after :D!

The Friday

Today is the first friday of March. It's a pretty good day where I live: Sun is shining, birds-a-chirpin, and blue skies. Perfect day to get out and do something. But thats unlikely in my case. Today I helped my grandmother go to the doc's. She has to get checkups for poor circulation. No big deal, at least, not yet. They run all sorts of tests to see how she is. Whatever its not like I have friday mornings booked yet. We're going to go eat a lunch a bit later. Hope reader's have a good day today!

Return from long hiatus

Some followers out there might be wondering "Huh, what happened to the times of my days blog?". Long story short, I was just out getting fresh air away from the digital world. But never fear, I've returned and I have plenty of stories to share I'm sure. Glad to have returned and I hope you didn't miss me too much!

Denny's: What's not to love?

Freakin' Denny's. America's Diner. All breakfasts, all lunches, all dinners, all day er'ryday!! They are truely the only place where you can walk in un-expectedly and order up some nice stacks of pancakes, or just a nice juicy burger. Not to mention their latest achievement, the $2, $4, $6, $8 menu, which gives ludicrous prices for the most quality. The lower-end, specifically. I'm not so sure about the $8 platters n' such. Either way, if you couldn't already tell, I have a huge hard on for Denny's.

My favorite dish, however, is not even considered a dish at all. If you are not the kind of person who enjoys an appetizer, you're only robbing yourself of some of the best parts restaraunts have to offer. Denny's Loaded Nachos are the most un-appetizer appetizers I have ever witnessed. About a pound of tostito-style (but not brand) chips smothered with two kinds of cheese, meat, tomatos, onions, and peppers, finished off with a coup de grace dallop of sour cream make up these monstrous nachos. I've ordered skillets that don't even come close to the size of this plate at nearly a dollar or two more. On several occasions I didn't even finish my plate, and they are almost always the only food item I order when I eat 'em. They used to not make them available as "half-orders", so I'm sure somewhere along the way they had enough inquiries to downsize them. But being soooo epic, Denny's couldn't just say "Yeah, thats too much", so they basically said Fuck That!! If you want it less, you gotta ASK for it less goddamnit!!

Thats more than enough reason to continue to give my dollar to the only place ballsy enough to call itself "America's Diner".

Torn City

Many people go online and find all sorts of different web-based games. There are all sorts and almost anyone who has gotten bored at work, school, or just wanted something to do has played a flash game. In my search for games, and I can't even remember the first day I signed up for this game, I found an HTML, all text-based game called Torn City.

Its nothing new really. City full of crime, lots and lots of gangs, drugs rampant, gun laws almost non-existent, and a whole community of players who are hardcore about their text based game. It is almost unreal how much people enjoy this game, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. It is all reading. You read to find out how you punched someone. You read to find out how you commited a crime. You read to find out that your items got sold on the item market.

Now, I'm no stickler on reading, in fact, reading and me get along just fine. But there is a limit to how much fun I can have with reading. There is no end to the words. They don't just simply pull up a flash animation, power bar, anything at all to relate to skill/hand-eye coordination that a player must do to become "better". You even have a job in this crime infested city, which is highly unlikely in the real world, that gives you money, stats, a certain "job points", and special commands that are mostly work-related. Go figure.

However, the biggest drawback I find is that they give you 3 bars to tell you how your character (which you never see) is doing labeled "Energy", "Happiness", and "Nerve". Energy is what is used to attack, work out at the gym, and get enrolled into schooling (and maybe a few other things...). Energy regenerates 5 points every 15 minutes, and energy gets depleted in just a few actions. Very time consuming. Happiness only determines how successful you are at crimes. Not super important when there are many other factors to increase or decrease the success rate. And last is Nerve, which is used only to commit crimes. Oh, and bust out of jail yourself or someone else, but thats still a crime. It's more forgiving than energy, at a rate of 1 per 5 minutes, but when you're higher level, a single crime costs about 8 nerve.

tl;dr very time consuming game with little reward, and it is all text based.

There are many other text based games out there. Who else wastes their time on it?

Internet is sloooooow!

Gettin' up was easy today, considering I didn't actually sleep. No real plans to. Whatever, anyways I already know im going to sleep later. But the worst is getting up today and loading my browser. Many, so many failed loads and soooo slow javascripts is not cool. Especially when I'm the sole user. There has to be some issues going on with my ISP, DSL isn't this slow. I know its not fuel-injected or anything, but it gets the job done.

Got up, did the morning routine, and started to import songs onto my PC via CD. Now, this rig is fairly new, but I'm not about to clutter it up with a whole lot of music/games, its not even mine! But, despite that, I still imported two Joy Division albums via warez. I still own CD's though and decided to put what I listen to on the hard drive as well.

List is rather short:

Korn - Untouchables
NIN - The Downward Spiral

While it is only two albums now, I'm going to get more CD's imported as I feel I want 'em. These are the only other ones than JD I bother with. I'm very diverse, no?

Actually, I am, but I'm happy with what I have, and thats what counts :P.

Oh geez....

Staying up late and sleeping in all day. Thats what I can do since I still am unemployed :(. I am still trying to get one, do not despair. And, from time to time, I do get called up for work. What kind of work? Carnival work. I get called up to set up parties, events, and community gatherings. Feel good kind of work, y'no? Well, today, I missed it. Yup, straight up missed work. Slept in, and lost track of my days (due to just not giving a damn) and so thats how the cookie crumbles.

The work I do when I'm there is decent. We set up inflatable slides, obstacle courses, games, and of course, bounce houses. Its pretty decent pay also, 10 an hour. I've seen up to $230 on a paycheck for a good weekend. But not today. Nope. Traded my money for sleep.

I hope to end up getting employment very soon though, since the American economy is on the rise. Just gotta shave the beard!
